Say hello to an old friend

That’s a measles virion. He used to kill children in the UK.
Due to the best efforts of maverick members of the scientific community, sensationalist media reporting, and the continuing efforts of some scientifically illiterate journalists, he’s back.
And he has killed.
Asaria and MacMahon have published a clinical review of measles in the BMJ, which reviews all aspects of measles – healthcare professionals should read it.

I imagine that as a matter of routine you have drawn the attention of the editor of “The Lancet” to this post: after all, both he/she and their equivalents at the BMJ have a vested interest in such matters.
Personally, I think the editor of the Lancet should join Melanie Phillips et al in the eighth circle of Hell for publishing the damn MMR paper in the first place.

The Lancet has been going downhill ever since Horton decided to take it down an increasingly demented path to court publicity and push Horton’s personal politics. Witness (Lancet) Red. It’s this sort of Independent-style nonsense that has ruined what used to be an excellent journal.
