As the MMR controversy has started to abate and the evidence-based nails have continued to slam into the lid of Andrew Wakefield’s satin-lined coffin, it is interesting to look at how that is changing the nature of the leading anti-MMR vaccine movement in the UK – JABS (Justice Awareness and Basic Support – http://ww.jabs.org.uk).
Here’s the spokesperson of JABS writing in 1995:
ABS, as a self-help group, neither recommends nor advises against vaccinations but we aim to promote awareness and understanding about immunisations and offer basic support to any parent whose child has a health problem after vaccination.
Initially, JABS restricted their concerns largely to MMR vaccine. As the claim that MMR vaccine has been linked to autism has been increasingly refuted by science, JABS have started to focus more widely. Now they talk about Flu vaccine and the new cervical cancer vaccine. Possibly, as the organisation sheds wider more mainstream support, those remaining will become increasingly openly anti-vaccine. One of the legacies Wakefield’s MMR claims may well be that the UK is left with a reinvigorated anti-vaccine movement, bearing more resemblance to the US anti-vaccine groups.
It is unfair to claim that JABS are responsible for the contributions of visitors to their forums, but as an example of the intellectual dead end that JABS have found themselves in, the following can’t be beaten. It is in response to a post by a JABS member which mentions Gordon Brown’s desire to increase vaccination in the developing world.
Be warned if you think Blair was bad wait for Brown to get in power.
While Brown and his wife are rightfully getting some sympathy for his son’s condition Brown wants to poison and commit genocide on millions of african children on behalf of his masters.
Then they will just blame the phony disease aids for the deaths as part of the population control programmes. They have not ever isolated the HIV virus and aids is one the biggest scams of the 21C.
Quite who Brown’s genocidal masters are is not made clear, but I suspect we could all take a wild guess.

There is a w missing from the Jabs URL in this story. Have linked to your blog … but not for the Eustonite tendancy. For the quack stories. I thought Blair’s speech was appalling in terms of not owning the connection between how we behave in the world and how the world behaves to us. Ridiculous. And his attack on Liberty with a big L was frankly pathetic. The L was audible. It was in the typescript. Clear from the forms of words. But not in press reprints.
