Winter Snow

Bowfell and Crinkle Crags, Lake District.

These are a a pair of photographs from a solo winter walk in the Lake District in 1992, looking towards Bowfell and Crinkle Crags. I’ve just got hold of a slide scanner, at last, and these are two photographs I was quite proud of getting with my SLR at the time.

They capture the feeling of the day’s walk and the quality of the light well. Crisp and cold, the clouds rolling over the tops of the mountains quickly; crystalline snow etching patterns on the ground as it was blown horizontally. I have resisted the urge to crop the full frames.
